I am in the mood to cook. I can't decide if I should hold off and wait for the weekend, or start rummaging through the freezer, fridge and cupboard to see what ingredients I may or may not have at my current disposal. Hmm.

Edit: Looks like I will be raiding the cupboard to try and see what I can throw together to fulfill my cooking urge. Here's to hoping I don't cook myself out by Easter!!

Whomever thought it was a good idea (my brother Feliks) to let me be in charge of a 17, 14 and 7 year old for an entire weekend wasn't thinking clearly when the decision was made. So Feliks and my sister-in-law went on a trip for the weekend. I agreed to watch my nephews and niece for the weekend, because why not, right? I made sure I wouldn't be on call, and I went in early Friday so I could pick them up after school on Friday and cart them from Portland back to Heritage with me.

A run-down of reasons I am exhausted, but entertained for the weekend )

Eli has yet to run out of energy from his sugar crash. It's only 5 o'clock. He didn't even wind up with a tummy ache! I fear for what I have done to his pancreas, processing all that sugar. Sigh. Anyway. We made some homemade pizza for dinner and we're about to head for the roller skating rink and then the bowling alley. Who's in? Frankie? Scott? Jack? Other Humes? Gwen? Hellions? Nessa? Ben?

I may need to sleep for days once this weekend is over. I think I need some more coffee. I may act like this is exhausting but this has seriously been a fantastically fun weekend so far and I'm enjoying it far too much. It's nice not having an empty house and having things to occupy myself with and even though they bicker with each other, the kids are pretty awesome. I'm totally bluffing about it being exhausting and saying it was a crazy idea to pick me as the weekend sitter...

my back is killing me, pretty sure I slept on it wrong.
I'm am infinitely grateful that they allowed outside food to be sent in. However, I think my plan of action for today is to go back to sleep. The longer I'm out, the quicker the days will pass, right? Maybe I'll even have a dream that I'm laying on a nice tropical beach. That'd be swell.

Hospital food is atrcious. I didn't know it could get much worse than what they serve in the cafeteria. I am not under the care of a cardiologist for heart disease, please flavor my food with some salt at least, and if you're daring enough, pepper. The only thing remotely edible is my irange juice. And why are you denying me coffee?

There's a sick, twisted, part of me that wants to do this.

I lost a game of rock, paper, scissors and wound up on call for the entire duration of the Labor Day weekend. This has seriously put a damper on my barbecue attendance. I need to work on my rock paper scissors strategies, clearly.

CALLING ALL FUN PEOPLE:

Hank and I have decided to go bowling Tuesday night. Bowling is obviously a lot more exciting if you have lots of people, so everybody should come out with us. You know you want to! I'll even go easy on you (that's a lie, I'm really competitive when I bowl, but pretend I really mean it). Ugly shoes, awesome pizza, popcorn and beer, hurling a heavy object at a bunch of lighter objects - who wouldn't call that a good night, right?

Who's in?

I feel like going out dancing. I also feeling like going to the movies. Maybe I need to see a movie that involves dancing, two birds, one stone, yada yada yada. Not sure I want to go out tonight though. I think Elvis is getting sick, Obviously it's too late now, but maybe I'll take him to the vet during lunch tomorrow. My life is fasssscinating! I need to stop watching the Food Network before I go on another baking spree. I guess I'll scour Netflix for something to watch.

There's a cow moseying around my backyard, eating my grass. Correction: a calf. It's small. Smaller than a full grown cow. Who does one call in regard to a stray cow? How did it even get there and why did it pick my yard? Is my grass really that much tastier than next door's? Maybe I'm still asleep. Why is there a cow in my yard?!?!

I really like orange juice, but I get mad whenever I see a commercial for it on TV, because it always looks so much better than the orange juice in my glass at the kitchen table. Damned advertising.

I think it's convenient that the Apocalypse is starting on a weekend - who wants to have a party? Go out with a bang and all that?

So I think I'm getting used to my karate lessons. My muscles are less sore after lessons now. They weren't horrible to be begin with, but holy shit can I feel it in my abs. Sheesh. Too bad my belt is white still. That's lame...since your Gi is white. Ah well, maybe it'll change sometime in the near future. In the meantime I'll be thankful for the extra toning in the abdominal area. I've noticed it's helped a bit with my balance while skating too. Go figure. I swear if one more person tells me to 'sweep the leg'...

Oh baseball season, how I have missed you so. And the Mariners started out the season with 2 wins! Yesterday was a loss…but the Rangers are going down tonight, damnit!

ETA: C'mon boys...don't let me down. We're jut about halfway through the game already!

ETA2: Yeah! That's more like it! Keep 'em coming now!

ETA3: Gwen, tell your brother he can make this up to me with some tickets to the home opener, which will hopefully be better than tonight's game...sigh.

I am seriously contemplating taking up karate lessons. According to the handy dandy web, I can take them at Whitlinger or at that place in town. I wonder which one is more costly, gee. This boring life update brought to you by the letter Jane.
